Commission update

The Commission on Political Power was established in 2022 for a defined three year term to come up with ideas for constitutional and democratic reform but when we met for what was intended to be the final time it was suggested that we could continue in an informal way in order to coordinate activities of established organisations.

We brought together an informal group to discuss issues that the various organisations thought were important, achievable and on which we all agreed. 

We decided to focus on reform of the Lords, political funding and structured citizens' engagement. We are keen to try to protect a reformed and democratic state against anything coming down the road.

The group comprised representatives from established organisations and academics specialising in constitutional issues. We came up with a list of activities that we would all get engaged in over the coming months and we intend to meet again in November to check on progress.

I am going to keep the Commission on Political Power website going and will post updates on these coordinating activities. Meanwhile if any organisation would like to get involved, please let me know.
